Hi Guys, I spent a few hours with JT today and I wish I had good news.
He has not been eating and is losing weight rapidly. He has no appetite and gets sick when he does manage to put something in his body.
I don't know exactly what his time line is but he is approaching the finish line.
If you have anything you want to say to him get it done.
His wifes name is Pat and they can be reached at 805-237-1991

P.S. For those of you that have stayed in touch with JT please know that he really enjoyed hearing from you. His time is short and we are extended family to him. We went down to his garage today and he sat in his car for the last time. It was all he could do and had to take a nap afterwards. Give him a call when you get a chance.
Thanks, Charlie

Never got to see JT. Pat said they were having a rough day and it was not really convenient, so I just asked that she tell him we called, and we moved on.
Looking forward to seeing his car at the track with you behind the wheel. Not sure how much racing I will do early this year - lots of work, but not a lot of spare $$$.

Just read the POC bulletin. Not much to say really, other than that at least he is not in pain any more.
Thoughts go out to his family.

I called John after Charlie posted that he was not doing well. We talked about the Vegas race where his rear stub axle broke and his rear wheel shot across the track. We all pitched in and changed the axle assembly. In true 944 fashion, John beat all of us in the race the next day.
He will be missed.

In true 944 fashion, John beat all of us in the race the next day. That is the example that I use when I tell friends and family about the camraderie in the 944 racing. John drove the wheel off his car, and we all helped him put his car together so that he could beat us the next day. We couldn't have been any happier for him. He was a great racer and mentor on many things, most of which are off the track. He will always be remembered. David

Thank you to all who made the effort to contact JT. Pat told me JT really appreciated your thoughts even if he did not get to speak to you personally. Pat made sure to tell him if any of us contacted him and he was not able to speak with you. He was only awake a few hours a day towards the end.
JT's car wil be on the track next year. I purchased the car the last time I saw him. It was weighing very heavy on his mind about having to leave his wife to sell it. He told me he would be proud to have me own/drive it. I will do my best to fill his shoes on the track. I don't think I could ever fill his shoes off track.
I will miss you my friend.

John will be missed. He was one of my first instructors at WSIR. Charlie I think you picked up the second day's duties on Sunday when we went off in T9. At Laguna Seca John saved my weekend by showing up with a used alternator. He was always happy to help and show me the ropes. I really appreciated that. I, too, was unable to connect with John. Everytime I called he was sleeping. But Pat told me she passed along the messages. She also was happy that all of the John's racing buddies were calling. That meant a lot to him. Charlie it's great that you bought his car from him. That was a very kind thing to do.

I really will miss John. He treated me as a friend 5 min after I met him. We have lost a true Champion. I wish I got to know him better. I regret this extremely.
